Christchurch 20 days later

We flew into Christchurch on March 14, twenty days after the recent eartquake. We saw litterally thousands of buildings from the air and later from the ground. We only saw two damaged buildings. Outside the centre everything is back to normal. At the suggestion of our campervan rental company we stopped for groceries on the way out of town, at a fully stocked supermarket that was operating completely normally.

oh to be young and brave and indestructible and to fly into a town that had two highly significant earthquakes in the last 6 months, and a devastating one one month ago with an estimated 200 fatalities and very significant property damage including iconic buildings.

wikipedia is not at all as sanguine as our young folk.

    oh youth!

    very best wishes!
