Port Townsend

Port Townsend is a wonderful town at the north end of Puget Sound. Port Townsend has a skate park, cooperative grocery, and volunteer cafe in addition to dozens of normal restaurants, stores, and eateries. Port Townsend is also the home of the wooden boat foundation, who sell all kinds of useful items in their small store, including deck prisms which I had never seen for sale anywhere else.

Port Townsend has two marinas and a good anchorage. The Hudson Point marina is small, but it is located close to the commercial strip of town. It has better facilities. The entrance is in between tall log breakwaters, and looks rather small. We had no trouble with it in our 45 foot boat and the office said that it easily fits 70 foot boats.  The enterance is still intimidating.

The larger Port Townsend Boat Haven is crowded and less conveniently located. We had trouble there because of the high winds when we arrived.
