Quartz Bay
Scream spent one night at anchor in Quartz Bay on the north west side of Cortez Island. We anchored in the western cove along the shore behind the small island. The view of the cliffs on the nearby shore and the snow-capped mountains in the distance was quite nice.
We anchored in 55' on a rocky bottom. We had to drop the anchor three times before it set, which is more than we are accustomed to. The western cove is sheltered from waves but the wind was stronger than we expected, probably more than half the strength out in the channel.
While not our favourite stop, we did return to Quartz Bay two nights later as we waited for the tidal passes on our way north.
