That 64 hp Perkins diesel is how old? 4 cylinders, no OHC, no turbo, no intercooled, what rpm typically and range, what torque. You have any of that kind of specs?

Not having much luck tracking you guys at 14:00 UTC on 14.300 MHz LSB, just weird noises , little else this ‘early’ morning at that frequency. So from 14:00 to now 14:33 MST not much going on .

Did a little bluish sky astronomy before listening in at our time of 06:40 MST.

(Just saw a picture of a sailboat at Antarctica on this thing, what about ice bergs there?)

re the exorbitant galapagos fees

what if you had sailed like a wild man / wild couple victoria to galapagos straight, would they have torpedoed you. or sent you to ecuador to pay your fees first.

there must be people ‘banditing’ the galapagos, like people ‘bandit’ running races, just show up, join in. I certainly would be tempted at those fees. I mean you are good for business, for the local economy.

Did you catch the news of the giant cruise ship in the mediterranean getting into a wind squall or storm that shattered some windows and thus killed a german and an Italian tourist, they diverted the liner to Spain to let off the injured, (and do minor repairs?) before heading on to Genoa as to their original plan. Something like that.

Hey Steven and Darusha – So glad you posted an All-OK after the tsunami. Also glad you guys made it to Quito – Mac and I were there in the 1970’s and loved it. Liked the big berries called Moras, the spiral descent into the airport, and hiking (bushwhacking) up into the hills.

hello everyone, it has been a long while, that wonderful holiday visit got me out of the habit of checking up on your travels. Interesting, surprising stuff. that mountain lookout does look cool temperature wise.

if that 4,100 m is for real, i would expect a slew ha ha of big telescopes up there. That is close to the 5,000 meters where our Andrew got into his big troubles at or near the basecamp of K2.

who is the Andrew on your pictures, for a moment ai thought our Andrew caught up with you. Who is the young lady, or does it matter?

I follow your blogs regularly and enjoy them and keeping up with your progress. Michelle and I wish you the very best for 2010. You are both living all our dreams. We both have just returned from skippering a 47 foot Leopard cat in the Grenadines with 8 people on board. Had a great time. Tame compared with your adventures. Thanks so much for putting up a great site! I have been thinking about buying a cruising sailboat and taking off for parts unknown. I was particularly interested in your cruising budget.

I circumnavigated with my family (wife and 2 young kids) on a Stevens 47, returning to the US around 10 years ago. Getting itchy to go cruising again – although probably not a circumnavigation.

Your budget information is very much appreciated. I’ve been trying to figure out how much it will cost for living and boat expenses. Our budget was around $1000 a month back then. The dollar is a lot weaker and, of course there is inflation. Maybe I will see you out there someday.
