San Diego

After Dana Point, we stopped at Oceanside for a night, then anchored in Mission Bay the following night. Mission Bay was lovely – a free, protected anchorage just north of San Diego Bay. We would have happily stayed there a few days, but we were meeting Bob and Gay (the previous owners of Scream) in [...]

Dana Point

After leaving Catalina Island, we motored in glassy seas to Dana Point, a wealthy settlement on the mainland. We had an appointment with Outbound Yacht Services to get a Spectra Ventura 150 MPC (more about that in another post) installed, so we were headed to the docks at Dana Point to get that done.

Scream arrived on Catalina after an unpleasant trip from Santa Barbara (city). To our joy, we entered the calm and shallow Emerald Bay. Utterly confused by the semi-private mooring system (more below) we anchored in the south entrance of the bay.

There we encountered force 1 to 2 winds in flat seas when the forecast was for force 5, so we motored the remaining distance to here. Talking [...]

San Luis Obispo

It has been piping up a little while we’ve been here, as we’ve been waiting [...]

Morro Bay

After buddy boating from Monterey with Demelza, we arrived in Morro Bay on Wednesday. We has planned to anchor in San Simeon, but southerly winds were predicted, and none of us wanted to end up in a bad anchorage so we pushed on.
We after crossing the bar in small seas but strong current, we anchored [...]
